Maybe you already know that University Loft builds better college furniture. You probably see it in the way our dorm room furniture looks, the way it performs, and the way it makes personalization of your college living space easy. But here are three ways you might not know about that show how committed University Loft Company is to building better college furniture:
Innovation
The heritage of innovation at University Loft began when James Jannetides built his first student loft bed in 1984. James saw a better way to comfortably maximize his dorm room space as a student at Southern Illinois University. Ever the man of action, James had soon outfitted hundreds of dorm rooms and University Loft Company was born.
James Jannetides and University Loft continue to develop innovative college dorm room furniture solutions. James holds numerous United States patents for his university housing furniture systems. Today University Loft remains a step ahead, designing, creating and testing new ideas to continue building better college furniture.
Quality
Better college furniture demands top quality. That’s why University Loft uses better materials, including solid wood that is stronger than Northern Red Oak. We also use better construction methods such as dovetail joints, mortise and tenon connections, and corner blocks for reinforced desk and dresser drawer strength.
The Environment
Did you know that University Loft follows a strict Green Plan? It guides our commitment to environmental responsibility. As evidence of that commitment, we use Environmentally Farmed Timber that grows three times faster than oak and can also be tapped during its growth for latex used in the production of rubber. Unlike most other college furniture manufacturers, we’ve planted more trees than we’ve harvested. And we are now harvesting trees we planted more than two decades ago!
