The Best Method for Cleaning Metal and Steel Furniture

Washing your hand, sanitizing surfaces, not touching your face are all things we have been doing to keep ourselves and our loved ones from spreading germs and staying healthy during this pandemic. We are taking extra precautions to cause this to come to an end. University Loft has several blogs on the best ways to clean furniture without harming or compromising the structure of the piece you are cleaning. The best method for cleaning metal and steel furniture can be found in those blogs.

For our GSA Metal Series and for our steel furniture it is vitally important for you to never clean them with bleach, vinegar, or other harsh chemicals.  When the chemicals mix with the metal and steel, they break down the powder coating which will then lead to rust.

The Best Method for Cleaning

To recap the best method for cleaning is as follows

Metal and Steel: Add a few drops of mild liquid detergent to a bucket of warm water. Wipe down the furniture with a lint free cloth. Rise with cold water.

Wood and Laminate: Use only dish washing liquid, warm water, and a microfiber cloth. Mix the soap with warm water, be conservative with your soap, it does not need a lot.  Wash the surface with the cloth and rinse off the soap by rinsing the cloth with clean water frequently and wiping the surface.

Upholstery: Either liquid soap or upholstery cleaner will work on upholstered furniture. Wet your cloth and apply a small amount of soap to it. Rub on the stained area gently. Dampen a different cloth and remove excess soap from the area. With a dry towel, you can remove the extra moisture.
