Keeping Our Surfaces Clean

Keeping the surface of your furniture germ-free is always important, but now that we are fighting a virus we cannot see, it is of utmost importance that we are keeping our surfaces clean.

Begin with Clean Hands

We have been told to wash our hands often. Though, you may feel like you’ve washed the first four layers of skin off your hands, you are doing one of the best things for yourself and others. They also told us not to touch our face. Have you noticed now how often you actually touch your face? Even in low-risk times, it is good to NOT touch your face.

Clean and Disinfect Frequently

Surfaces touched regularly need to be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Places such as our countertops, light switches, doorknobs, doors, keyboards, phones, handles, windows, desks, sinks, faucets, and toilets. Be sure to clean and disinfect these areas.

Use soap or detergent with water prior to using a disinfectant.

Cleaning Wood and Laminate Furniture

Dish washing liquid is gentle enough to use on your wood and laminate furniture but strong enough to kill germs. Mix a small amount of detergent in warm water. Wash your surfaces down with a microfiber cloth. Be sure to rinse the cloth often in warm water.

Metal Surfaces

With metal surfaces you can use a few drops of mild liquid detergent in warm waters. Use a lint-free cloth to clean your items and rinse well with cold water.

Upholstery Cleaning

Upholstery shampoo will work wonders when cleaning your upholstered furniture. Just put a few drops on a wet cloth and gently rub. After you have removed the stain, dampen a separate cloth and wipe the extra soap away. Press a dry cloth to the fabric to pull out the remaining moisture.

This also works with liquid soap.
