Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way? University Loft Helps Your College Take the LEED.

College LEED Green Design University LoftYou’ve probably heard the phrase in the title of this post before. Maybe you live it as your mantra or maybe you envy those who aspire to leadership and inspire others to do the same. At University Loft Company, under the leadership of our founder and CEO James Jannetides, our college furniture company has led the way in student dorm room and college lounge furniture innovation for more than a quarter century. One of the most important ways we’ve led the college residence life furniture industry is by our commitment to being environmentally friendly, or “green”. Not only does University Loft lead the way in environmental responsibility, we can also help your college or university become LEED certified!

As you may know, LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This certification system was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998. Since then, it has become the international standard recognizing excellence in environmental leadership and energy responsibility for building and institution design.

LEED’s rating system totals 100 possible points (plus 10 possible bonus points) for each building or institutional category for those aspiring to become LEED-certified. One of these categories is LEED for Schools, and colleges and universities can become LEED recognized as Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. And because University Loft uses Environmentally Farmed Timber in our green student furniture, when you buy student furniture from University Loft, your school can earn points to meet certain LEED certification criteria.

So will you lead, follow or get out of the way? University Loft can help you take the LEED in environmental residence life design. Want to learn more? Contact us today at 800-423-LOFT (5638).
