Where in the World is University Loft Furniture? Wherever Young People Seek to Learn and Live a Better Life.

It might not surprise you to know that you can find University Loft student furniture in college and university residence halls and dorm rooms across America; after all, we’re the market leader in solid wood residence life furniture. But did you know that ULoft is also a global company serving educational institutions around the world? It’s true. The bigger surprise, however, might come when you discover University Loft student beds and other dorm room furniture in expected places. That’s exactly what happened recently when Luchie Ramirez-James spotted – and slept on – a University Loft student bed while on a missions trip to a Guatemalan orphanage. How did that particular bed get to Guatemala and how did Luchie know it was a ULoft bed? Here’s the story:

Every year, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Indianapolis, Indiana undertakes a missions trip to Guatemala, primarily assisting the Hogar Rafael Ayau orphanage home. The orphanage is home to hundreds of children from broken homes in an area ravaged by crime, war, unemployment, poverty, domestic violence, prostitution, alcohol and drug abuse. Before Rafael Ayau built this first ever orphanage in Guatemala City, many of these children lived in the streets.

University Loft Bed in Guatemala OrphanageThis year, church member Luchie Ramirez-James participated in the mission to Guatemala and told her son about the University Loft furnishings in the orphanage. You see, Luchie’s son is University Loft Sales Representative Raphael Ramirez. “Since I started working for ULoft,” said Raphael, “I’ve proudly shown pictures of our products to my family. So, it did not come as a surprise when my mom recognized the bed that she comfortably slept on for the duration of the trip as a University Loft dorm room bed.”

How did University Loft furniture find its way to Guatemala in the first place? University Loft, and our extended family, are committed to philanthropic and charitable causes year-round and worldwide. In this case, the University Loft furniture was donated to the orphanage by Nick and Elaine Jannetides, parents of University Loft Founder and CEO James Jannetides.

It’s no surprise to find University Loft student furniture in tens of thousands of dorm rooms around the world, but, as this story shows, you can also find ULoft furniture in some unexpected places. Have you spotted a University Loft student bed, desk, dresser or Two-Position Chair in a surprising place? If so, drop us a line.
