ULoft’s Mobile Showroom Brings College Dorm Room Furniture to Your Campus

Ever wish you could see the latest in modern dorm room furniture – up close and personal – without leaving your campus? Thanks to University Loft and our mobile showroom, you can!

As you might expect from the name, our mobile showroom is just that: a college dormitory furniture showroom on wheels. And it’s a big one: the University Loft mobile showroom is 45 feet long and 15 feet wide with the side “bump outs” extended for on-campus display. Opened up, it creates the perfect opportunity for college residence life administrators, student housing furniture buyers, residence hall assistants and even students, to see “vignettes” of University Loft furniture that could soon make their student residence quarters more fun and functional for living and learning. The vignettes showcase University Loft’s popular dorm room furniture lines, including the solid wood Graduate Series and the Meridian line. Our student lounge furnishings are also on display, complete with samples of our replaceable Velcro fabrics.

But it’s not just a quick in-and-out tour when the ULoft mobile showroom shows up on campus. We love it when students stop by to take a good long look. In fact, we usually break out the music and hot dogs and turn the informative showroom tour experience into a party!

So, who’s behind the wheel of the mobile coach? Ken Oswald, University Loft’s mobile showroom manager. Ken logs about 40,000 miles a year in the coach, and in the process, visits campuses across America, showing off ULoft’s American-made furniture for college students. Ken typically makes a couple of loops around the country each year, spending time in each University Loft Sales Rep’s territory. But while Ken logs a lot of seat time in the coach, he doesn’t sleep inside (even though the ULoft bunk beds are particularly inviting). “It’s a mobile showroom,” he says. “Since there’s no bathroom, it’s not really set up to be a functioning motor home.”
