At the beginning of spring, I noticed in my garden a plant that was growing from my compost dirt. Since I didn’t plant it, I wasn’t sure what it was. It looked quite a bit like a cucumber. It grew to the point that it took over a big part of the garden bed. However, while my cucumber vine was producing cucumbers, the other plant was not producing anything. I thought it just had a late start. In a few days, the flowers began budding, I saw that something was different. Then the flowers grew into the fruit of the plant which were not cucumbers at all. They turned out to be cantaloupe. Imagine my surprise and delight. I didn’t even plant them and here I had scrumptious cantaloupe growing. I realized that it may take a while to see the difference in things such as a cucumber plant and a cantaloupe plant. It’s much like that with furniture.
