Summer is sizzling in some places. Here in Indiana where University Loft Headquarters are located, it has been pretty pleasant with typical up and down weather patterns. It’s hot, then rainy, then muggy, then comfortable, then hot and humid, and so forth. We are enjoying summer, but if you are looking for ideas to help you stay cool, here are 7 ways to beat the heat this summer from the Makers of Cool.
Stay Hydrated
Water, water, water, all day long! Whether you are at a desk at work, or on the go outdoors, you should drink plenty of water.
It’s a good idea to put some water bottles in the freezer to have that nice icy, cold bottle ready for you on a hot summer day.
Flavored Ice
Mix up your favorite powdered beverage (Blue Raspberry is a fun one especially when it turns your tongue blue), fill up some ice trays, and freeze the beverage so you will have delicious, flavored ice for a quick and flavorful cool-down.
Folding Hand Fans or Portable Fans
There is nothing like one of those folding hand fans that you can flip open and fan yourself.
There are also battery-operated portable fans that will aid in reducing your heat level. Some even come with a water spritzer.
Keep the Oven Off
Though your air conditioner will keep your home comfortable, you can help by cooking on the stove top, using an air fryer, or making crock pot meals during hot summer days.
Water Your Head
If you are working or playing in your yard, the heat can catch up with you before you even realize it. If you keep water close by, you can pour it over your head for a quick cool-down. Here are some ideas: a baby pool full of water, extra bottles of water, or the good old fashioned garden hose.
Find Shade
Find a place to shade yourself. It’s much cooler in the shade. There is a beautiful shade tree where a local cat goes every day and takes a little nap. It may be smoldering out, but he’s comfortable under the shade tree.
