ULC uses Hevea Brasiliensis because it is environmentally friendly timber (EFT).
We use Environmentally Farmed Timber in our solid wood furnishings. Like our university furniture, our home furnishings come from Havea Brasiliensis trees. Five trees grown are harvested in the time it takes one oak tree to be ready for the mill. This helps to endure a wood source without depleting the world’s forests. This wood is strong – really strong. Independent lab tests proved that it is stronger than Northern Red Oak. That’s like being stronger than Popeye!
