Even if you weren’t around between 1972 and 1980, you still might be familiar with “Schoolhouse Rock,” a series of animated short features (about 3 minutes each) that ran on Saturday mornings on the ABC television network. These classic educational cartoons tackled a variety of subjects, from math to English to how our American government works. Lots of college students over the years probably learned their first memorable lessons via Schoolhouse Rock. One of my favorite Schoolhouse Rock classics is “Conjunction Junction.” View the video and just TRY to get that one out of your head. Another favorite is “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here.” An adverb, as you know modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb, and typically ends in “ly”.
