This is just a guess, but I’ll bet at least 3 out of 10 college males in 1976 had a dorm room wall adorned by that famous poster of Farrah Fawcett in the red swimsuit. The poster was so popular (the biggest seller of all time) and so iconic that Farrah’s swimsuit was added to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in 2011. The Farrah poster was all the rage some ten years before University Loft was born, but since the mid-to-late 1980s, University Loft furniture has been a constant student residence fixture even as the wall poster décor changed with the times.
Take a look at this photo of the very first loft-bed arrangement created by University Loft founder and CEO James Jannetides:
Yep. Posters on the wall.
Of course, the parade of celebrity wall art has been non-stop ever since. From the glam band 80’s to the boy band 90’s to the patriotic 2000’s to the always-popular celebrity pin-ups, University Loft student furnishings have provided the backdrop for the trendy signs of the times. How has University Loft student furniture managed to remain constant and current throughout the years? I’m thinking it has to do with ULoft student furniture’s innovation, functionality, quality and our Company’s commitment to the environment. Those are qualities that never go out of style.
So what posters will be on student residence walls in the future? Time will tell. But one thing is certain: University Loft furniture for student housing will be right there, making campus life more comfortable, functional and fun for college students across America and around the world!
So, tell me, what posters were on your dorm room wall?
