Except for Paul and Xavier, the multipurpose room was empty. Chairs were lined up in perfect rows facing the stage, but would have to be moved for the next event, a dance class, that would take place in less than an hour. They were assigned the duty to move the chairs out of the way so there would be plenty of room on the floor for 25 students to freely dance while the instructor taught from the stage. Paul assessed the situation, and shook his head with dread. “We better get started.” He said heading to the back of the room. Xavier followed, and they began pushing chairs from the back row against the wall. The plan was to shove all the chairs back to make room on the floor in front of the stage.
Breaking out in a sweat, Xavier stopped and wiped his forehead with a rag. He took a better look at the chairs. They were wood with blue cushions. “Wait, these chairs look familiar.” They were stackable wood chairs crafted by University Loft Company. “This is perfect,” Xavier shouted.
“What are you talking about? This is backbreaking work.” Paul stopped, looked askance at his co-worker, and wiped the perspiration from his brow.
Xavier shook his head. “No, we’re doing it wrong. These chairs are from University Loft. They stack. Look.” He lifted one of the chairs and placed it on top of the chair behind it. The legs slid through and the seat rested into the chair beneath. “See.”
With ease, the two men stacked the chairs and made the floor ready for the dance class. The room was prepared in ten minutes.
