This young student was none other than founder and CEO of University Loft, James N. Jannetides. He took the idea to change a crowded, tight-spaced dorm room into a spacious student residence. The twin bed was lifted into a loft bed and a desk built to fit underneath was created. From that dream back in 1986 to today, we have been manufacturing hand-crafted furniture right here in the USA.

James set up shop in Indianapolis, Indiana. Locations moved a couple of times until settling the headquarters in Greenfield, Indiana, which is how the Greenfield Series received its name. It is the site for the factor and the Factory Outlet store. If you ever have the opportunity to tour the facility, you will be inspired as you see workers busy on the floor producing.
Morristown, Tennessee
Morristown, Tennessee is known for their upholstery, so University Loft Company put our factory right in the middle of upholstery country. There skilled craftspeople are building durable ULC furniture products. Our furniture is crafted with strong solid wood frame and our upholstered pieces are made with detachable Velcro panels. This allows you to clean, repair, or replace the fabric.
