Like Peeling Back The Onion, There’s Always More to Discover with University Loft Furniture

graduateEvolution webI read an article the other day about the 25th anniversary of The Onion, the irreverent satirical print and online publication. While reading about The Onion’s origins, I was struck by a couple of parallels to University Loft Company and our American-made college dorm room furniture:

Inspired Origins at College

The Onion was born in the inspired minds of University of Wisconsin-Madison juniors Tim Keck and Christopher Johnson. Likewise, University Loft Company began with the inspired creativity of James Jannetides in the mid-1980s, then a student at Southern Illinois University. While Keck and Johnson found inspiration in the absurdity lurking in the news of the day, Jannetides found inspiration in the needs of college students to maximize their limited dorm room space.

Feature-Rich and Innovative

The Onion features satirical articles in a variety of sections (Politics, Sports, Business, Entertainment, etc.). Each article humorously and shamelessly takes on current events. (One recent headline: “‘Expendables 3’ Cast Requests To Be Paid In Steroids, Meat”.) Creative features are also the lifeblood of University Loft Company and our solid wood residence life furniture. For example, our student dorm room furniture lines feature virtually limitless customization potential thanks, making it easy for college students to configure and maximize their living space. Our desks feature full-extension drawer slides so students can avoid losing small items. And our Two-Position Chair is for ergonomic comfort during long hours of study.

Like I said, there’s so much to discover with University Loft and our solid wood modular furniture for student housing. Like The Onion, we’ve got oodles (actually, caboodles of oodles) of creative and useful features. So, from us at University Loft Company to the brainiacs at The Onion, congratulations! Here’s to many more years of inspired creativity!
