Every year on July 28th, World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated in recognition of our need to conserve our natural resources. Our whole world depends upon the natural production of the earth. Here’s how:
We practice preservation of our natural world by using Environmentally Farmed Timber in the furniture we manufacture. The type of wood we use is Hevea Brasiliensis. We will often refer to it as Environmentally Farmed Timber. Its finish is similar to oak making every piece of solid wood student furniture gorgeous. But the deeper beauty is that grows rapidly. Five Hevea Brasiliensis trees are grown and harvested in the time it takes one oak tree to be ready for the mill. The wood supply is sustained and the world’s forest do not become depleted. These trees are also tapped for latex when they are three to four years old. The latex is used to make useful products. Our raw materials are imported from Malaysia because the safe lumber practices they have committed to are a part of the high standard to which we adhere. 
Another reason we use Environmentally Farmed Timber
Through several independent lab test, Hevea Brasiliensis has been proven to be a very durable wood that is stronger than Northern Red Oak, which is considered the standard wood in strength and durability. Additionally, Hevea Brasiliensis was tested for weight endurance. One of the tests involved a 3 drawer chest that underwent 204 cycles at 350 pounds before the structure was compromised. That is why student residence furniture by University Loft lasts so long.
Kiln dried; bugs off!
The wood is kiln dried which subjects it to temperatures that kill any insect that might be in the wood. What’s great about this is that it lowers the amount of chemical treatment needed. Though it has to be treated in the drying process, it is pressure treated instead of dipped. This safeguards the wood to a cellular absorption instead of just surface. The way Hevea Brasiliensis is treated actually makes the wood harder! Our college furniture is crafted to endure more than the regular day-to-day interactions and last you for years to come.
