The World Around Us
We love being conscientious of the world around us that is why the timber we use to build our quality furniture comes from the Hevea Bras
liensis tree. This is a hardwood that has a variety of uses during its life. It produces rubber therefore tapped for latex. But the cool thing about these trees is that when it comes to the end of its latex production, the trees are cut down, not burned down, and they are then used for their hardwood in furniture such as the beautiful items you see in one our series like The Graduate Series.
They Grow Fast
These trees grow in a third of the time that an oak tree grows and harvests. The same amount of land provides wood for college furniture three times as often as that used in one oak tree. In independent tests, the wood from these trees has been proven stronger than the Northern Red Oak. This is another good reason University Loft uses this timber. Another good reason is the beauty of the grain in this wood as it runs through the furniture.
Durable and Strong
Our furniture is built strong to last a long time. It’s built to endure daily wear-and-tear and to withstand hard use as well. We have furniture that has suffered through hurricanes and came out standing. They were a bit wet, but they weren’t broken.
