University Loft Does the Right Thing Locally with a Big Donation to Craine House

University Loft makes big donation to Craine HouseYou probably know that University Loft does some pretty good things. For example, we make student residence life more comfortable and productive with our modular dorm room furniture. We also make our student furniture in the USA. And on a grander scale, we also do the right thing globally by using sustainable practices and Environmentally Farmed Timber in our solid wood student furnishings. University Loft Company is also a good corporate citizen and philanthropic organization at the local level. Case in point: University Loft Company recently donated nearly 100 furniture items to Craine House.

What is Craine House? It’s a non-profit facility that makes it possible for women convicted of non-violent offenses to reside with their preschool age children while they serve their work-release sentences. While at Craine House, they develop job, educational, parenting and relationship skills, as they build self-esteem and prepare for a brighter future for themselves and their children. To date, Craine House has served more than 500 women and has a terrific success rate. It is one of only six such facilities in the U.S.

When Craine House was preparing to move to a new and larger facility, they connected with University Loft Company. And ULoft was quick to step up and help out this worthy organization. To help furnish their new accommodations, University Loft donated Graduate Series bed ends as well as metal, laminate and wood furniture products – chests and stands – from our home market collections. In all, ULoft contributed close to 100 pieces of furniture to Craine House. According to University Loft Company Vice President Jeff Carlson, “One phone call and we very quickly put things in motion to help this great non-profit organization.” Carlson calls Craine House “one of central Indiana’s best-kept secrets.”
